Situation

University of Cyberjaya was experiencing significant challenges with their digital presence. Poor conversion rates plagued their programme pages, while high bounce rates indicated visitors weren’t finding what they needed. Additionally, their advertising costs were skyrocketing without delivering proportionate results, putting pressure on marketing budgets across the institution.

Challenge

University of Cyberjaya struggled with digital inconsistency across their programme pages, creating a fragmented user experience that led to poor conversion rates and high bounce rates. Each academic department maintained their own content approach, resulting in varying quality and structure that made information difficult to find.

The situation was further complicated by organisational silos, with multiple departments working independently without a unified digital strategy, resulting in increased advertising costs without proportionate returns.

Plan

We implemented a unified content framework that standardized information architecture across all programme pages while still preserving each programme’s unique value proposition. This approach was coupled with the establishment of cross-departmental collaboration workflows and centralised content management, ensuring consistent messaging while streamlining internal processes.

Outcome

The transformation yielded remarkable results:

  • 340% increase in time-on-page, indicating significantly improved content engagement
  • Bounce rate reduced by half, showing better user satisfaction and content relevance
  • Increased advertisement conversion rates, maximizing ROI on their digital marketing spend

The project not only improved key performance metrics but also established a sustainable framework for ongoing content management across the university’s digital ecosystem.

Revamping websites is not an easy task at all – for both the vendor and the client. There are so many moving parts and things that need to be considered, all while serving multiple stakeholders. I am glad that during UoC’s website development, Laman 7 was able to not only serve our objectives but also ensure that quick changes could be made to ensure that we were able to launch our website on time. Since the website has been launched, we have doubled our website traffic and reduced bounce time. We hope to continue working together to continuously improve the website as we move with the times.
